Ultium Motion Getting Started Guide

This page will guide you through the first steps of setting up the Ultium Motion system and recording your first measurements.

System unboxing & setup

Sensor placement

  • Sensors must be placed on rigid body segments and symmetric bilaterally.
  • Sensors must be oriented to look upright with the LED facing out and away from the body.
  • Place the straps containing sensors directly on the skin for best results.

Calibration

  • The recommended calibration process depends on the number of IMU sensors used, the space available, and application. Use either the Walking Calibration or Forward Lean calibration, shown below.

Walking Calibration

  • Recommended when a full lower body setup is used (Pelvis, LT/RT Thigh, LT/RT Shank, LT/RT Foot).
  • NOTE: Capture Ref Poses at the beginning and end of recordings after calibration to eliminate drift.

Forward Lean Calibration

  • Recommended for limited sensor setups or upper body only.
  • NOTE: Capture Ref Poses at the beginning and end of recordings after calibration to eliminate drift.

Analysis
